How To Install Your Wall Sticker
It's quick and easy to install your wall sticker.
Check Your Wall First!
Let’s make sure your wall is ready for its new look:
- Smooth and dry is key. Your wall should be completely smooth, dry, and painted at least 2-3 months ago.
- Give it a good clean. If there’s dirt or grime, the sticker will stick to that instead of the wall. Just give it a wipe with a damp cloth and let it dry before starting.
- Beware of certain paints. Stickers don’t love washable or wipeable paints as they can affect adhesion.
- Room temperature matters. Make sure the stickers have warmed to room temperature, and the room isn’t too cold.
Time to Apply!
Here’s how to get that perfect finish:
- Test first. If your sticker has smaller pieces, try one out to make sure it sticks well and doesn’t damage the wall when removed.
- Peel gently. Use two hands to carefully remove the sticker from the backing. Take extra care with smaller pieces to avoid tearing.
- Smooth as you go. Apply the sticker slowly, smoothing it down with your hands, a soft cloth or an applicator tool to remove any bubbles.
- Work with a friend for larger stickers. They’re easier to handle with two people!
- Press firmly. Our stickers are pressure-sensitive, so rub them down firmly. Do this a few times in the first 24 hours using a soft cloth.
- Reposition if needed. If something’s off, gently remove and adjust.
- Peeling away? Troubleshooting tip: Try adding a little heat! Use your hand, a soft cloth, or a hairdryer on a low setting (keep it at least 5cm away).
Fixing Curling Edges
If an edge starts to curl, don’t worry! Here’s what to do:
- Use a hairdryer to warm up the adhesive in the curling area.
- Once it’s warm, press the edge back down firmly.
The heat softens the adhesive, helping it bond better to the wall.
If the edges still won’t stick or the sticker comes off completely, the wall might be too uneven, or the paint could be the issue. Just let us know—we’re happy to help!
Helpful Hints for Success
- Don’t wait too long to apply your sticker! The adhesive can dry out over time.
- Stickers work best on clean, dry, and smooth surfaces. Avoid textured walls.
- Matte emulsion paint works great. Glossy, silk, wipeable, or special-effect paints might need an adhesive spray to help the sticker stick (but note it may make removal trickier).
- You can apply stickers to wallpaper, but they might not be removable.
- Avoid placing stickers directly above heaters or in very cold rooms.
- Take your time, especially when peeling off the backing sheet and smoothing the sticker down.
